Since I became a member here I thought it would be nice to also make a thread about my WIP project here.
Especially for those who do not visit other TR forums.
Mists of Avalon - Road to Avalon
There will be several levels, not sure yet how many in the end.
The game will start with two cutscenes, showing what happened at the end of part 1: taking a map from a skeleton and back in the manor where Lara talks about what happened and what they are going to do next.
If you just happened to have played part 1, you can skip these cutscenes by hitting the Escape key.
Every level is made upt of 2 or 3 .tr4 files due to technical limitations.
But I gave the levels belonging to the same area the same name, because they should be considered as being one level.
The level starts with yet another cutscene where Lara is welcomed by Zip and Alister and they talk about what they have found.
Lara is eager to get started ofcourse, so she takes off after the conversation.
Explore the fisherman's cottage and its surroundings a bit to find some gear.
You can also find two secrets, but since you will return to this level later that night, you can wait and get it then.
There's one major puzzle to solve, some bats to shoot and exploring.
So this level is pretty easy-going.
The fisherman's cottage where Zip and Alister have setup their techcenter. Outside, looking towards the cottage.
This is a rather old screen, but the basics haven't changed. There are just a bit more trees nowadays. Lara has to find her find to the next bay and she does so by going through these rocky passages.
Not really something special and you can't really tell from the screenshot, but I like the kind of atmosphere I've created for this passage.
Lara enters the caves and finds old manmade ruins.
But traps are still working and enemies are lurking.
The main cave.
Heavily inspired by the TR Legend England level, obviously.
Meta2TR has been used.
I've also sort of remade the interior of the TR Legend mausoleum, but unlike in Legend, Arthur is not here. Just a statue of him.
Lara is not the only one who has entered these caves recently...
There's poisonous gasses, moving flames, blades, falling cages, deadly floors, a sound puzzle, etc.
This is one of the puzzle rooms:
And one of the firetraps:
I've also made an extra area in this level where you can get an extra item.
Just for fun. It is not needed for anything, so it is optional.
The player will be notified that it is optional.
Not done with posting images yet....
After getting out of the caves, Lara returns to Seagull Bay.
It is now night. She first has to save her friends Zip and Alister from a mob of baddies before being able to leave with a dingy they left at the jetty near the cottage.
Getting the dingy to work is the main goal here so Lara can go out to sea to find the spot on an amulet she found in King Arthur's Tomb?
The level is pretty combat-heavy this time around, but if you are carefull you can avoid some of the combat.
No screens yet because I have not made this night version yet.
Remnants of Atlantis
A level that starts underwater, with Lara wearing a wetsuit and diving gear.
Ignore the numbered rocks please, they are there for easier texturing.
One of the ruin-like areas where you have to find an item.
Once you have collected a couple of items that need to be used on the entrance to the sunken ruins, Lara enters these ruins.
I'm trying to give these ruins a bit of a fantasy look, with weirdly coloured anemones and seaweeds.
You have to pry them off rocky walls. One of the puzzle areas. And one of the water related puzzles.
Yep, Lara will finally reach Avalon.
There will be an outside/living quaters section and an undergroudn section where the Stone of Omphalis is kept.
I have not started working on this level, so no screens yet.
Yep, Croft Manor will also be in this part of Mists of Avalon part 2.
But only the gym and the outside this time. You can use it to try out Lara's new moves.
Find the key for the gates in the courtyard and explore what behind the manor.
Screenshots are heavily WIP.
Assaultcourse includes a TR2-TR3 style timed run. Being fast enough earns you a secret.
And you have to shoot these TR3 style targets. If you don't, seconds will be added to your timer so you can't get the required time.
I wanted to make the outside a combination of classic Core Design Manor and the LAU manor.
The manor is available from the main game menu.
Driving a fast enough time here will also earn you a secret.
Still a lot to do here, including changing the looks of the quadbike.
Just like in TR3, this race track also has an underground section.
That's it for now.
I'll add screenshots to these posts when I have more progress to show.
I'll then upload to another site because it looks like 3 attachments per post is the max?
I hope you will enjoy part 1.
Depending on which Windows you have, images for the Save Game Panel and the PDA might not work. And/or the game will play in windowed mode even though you set it to full screen in the setup.
If this is the case, let me know.
I should have another Tomb_NextGeneration.dll around somewhere. A Tomb_NextGeneration.dll in which this issue was solved and which has worked for other players.
Well, I don't think that, I think you should work on how making better rooms, I saw that the home has empty huge rooms with not a great lightning, that's it
